I created a basic QR code content block, then decided to take a vacation and postpone the remaining goals until August so I could reconsider Booth Beam’s priorities with a clearer head.

Highlights #

July was a deliberately short month for Booth Beam. I completed one practical product addition: a basic QR code content block that booth teams can use in their playlists.

The rest of the month was about recognizing that I needed some distance from the project. Instead of forcing decisions about priorities while I lacked clarity, I decided to take a vacation. The remaining goals moved to August.

Goals Grades #

At the start of each month, I declare what I’d like to accomplish. Here’s how I did against those goals:

Add new content blocks that booth teams can include in their playlists.

• Result: I created a basic QR code content block that can be used in Booth Beam.

The intended result was a new usable content block, and the QR code block completed that goal. It is a simple addition, but a practical one for booth teams that want to place scannable content on a screen.

Reassess my goals for Booth Beam and define a smaller, more focused set of priorities.

• Result: I postponed the work until August and took a vacation before making further decisions.
• Grade: F

I did not complete the intended reassessment in July. Taking time away may help me make a better decision, but it does not count as completing the goal.

Current product state #

QR codes are useful at conference and trade-show booths because they can connect what visitors see on a screen with something they can open on their phones. I created a basic QR code content block so this type of content can be used directly in Booth Beam.

This is an initial version. July did not include broader work on the content-block roadmap or validation of how customers will use the new block in real event scenarios.

What Didn’t Go As Planned #

The broader reassessment moved to August #

I started July intending to reassess Booth Beam’s priorities and put the remaining product and validation work into a clearer order. I did not finish that work.

Instead, I decided to take a vacation and create some distance from the project. I want to return to the open questions with more clarity rather than set priorities only to keep the roadmap moving. The consequence is straightforward: the decisions and the work behind the other goals were postponed until August.

Wrap up #

July produced one completed product improvement and one conscious pause. Booth Beam now has a basic QR code content block, while the broader priority review remains unfinished.
